Pyostomatitis Vegetans

This patient had been hospitalized for weeks because of large intra oral ulcerations and multiple pustules. He was diagnosed with a pyostomatitis vegetans by an oral medicine specialist. The association of pyostomatitis vegetans with imflammatory bowel disease, particularly ulcerative colitis, is well known and in most cases bowel disease precedes the onset of oral lesions by months or years.
