Folic Acid Deficiency
A patient presented with a complaint of experiencing a burning sensation on the right lateral border of the tongue. A differential diagnosis included burning mouth syndrome and vitamin B12 deficiency (pernicious anemia).
The patient returned one month later exhibiting atrophy of the papillas on the right lateral border of the tongue. The patient was later diagnosed with hemochromatosis and the tongue lesion was interpreted as a consequence from folic acid deficiency.
