Oral health care considerations for patients with atrial fibrillation:
- Do not provide elective dental care within 30 days after hospitalization for atrial fibrillation.
- Assess and evaluate the severity of any comorbid conditions. (See atrial fibrillation, “Comorbid diseases and conditions”.)
- Inquire about a history of stroke.
- Address anticoagulation therapy.
- Use antianxiolytic agents if necessary.
